A Long Days Walk Into Carrion

Last night at dinner in Boadilla I met a Hungarian woman, who says she is trying to take this time to let go of all the stuff at home and find what is right for her. She says letting go is hard for her. lol Tell me about it. Everything I let go of has some of my fingernails embedded in it.

I also met a young German couple. He just graduated from law school and is trying to find his path. They are very nice. She asked me if I wanted to use the washing machine with them. This is a big treat, because the albergues charge money to use the washing machine and I never have enough clothes to justify the expense. It is a little weird to put one set of undies, a pair of shorts and A shirt in a washing machine. They look so lonely.

Last night at dinner I also met a young vegan gay couple from London. Their names are Daniel and Matt. They have a tent, and when they can, they sleep in that.

I ran into all these folks at the Santa Maria Albergue in Carrion today.

Another new friend, I just met today in Carrion, is Nadia. She and her mother Lavatza have the bed next to me. Nadia has short, curly dark hair and the face of a cherub. She has taken a liking to me. She and her mom went down to the river and had something to eat. Nadia brought me back a pickle. It was yummy.  I don't what it is about kids that they like me. I'm not particularly a child person. A childish person, yes, but not a child person.

I have to admit, to the people that think the Meseta is boring, that the stretch from Fromista to Carrion de los Condes is a bit tedious. But still, I managed to get these pictures:

So all was not lost on the 25 km (15.5 mi) walk. The mornings have been surprisingly cool, and even the afternoons have not been stifling hot.
